Carver Elementary School is a Pre-K-5 school with approximately 340 students. We have 18 teachers and a small support staff. Carver is a Quality Education Investment Act school. The Quality Education Investment Act (SB 1133-Torlakson) intends to help to close the achievement gap. Over seven years, the proposal allocates Proposition 98 funding to help schools to reduce class sizes, improve teacher and principal training, and give local school districts additional resources to support programs that best fit the needs of their students.
The school wide programs that exist are our core curriculum of reading, math, science and social studies. We implement a Response to Intervention (RtI) Program to assist students who are struggling academically. Our other interventions include after-school and during the day pullout programs. These are programs specific to students’ academic needs. In addition to the core academics, we also provide music, art and drama after school.
Our main goal is that all of our students will be proficient and advanced in all content areas. In order to achieve this lofty goal, we focus on teaching, student learning, teacher and parent learning, collaboration, and accountability demonstrated by students learning outcomes as measured by the bimonthly assessments, district benchmark assessments, end of unit and chapter assessments, and CST.
